Chris McCracken out in New Mexico sent me this write up on the skateshop in his hometown. read on.. |

Chris says: "Skateboarding has changed. Long gone are the deck runs of a few hundred, and the professional skateboarders with real jobs to make ends meet. In today's skateboard industry, primetime television shows and corporate sponsorships are an all too common reality. Up and coming 505 Board Shop in Las Vegas, New Mexico wants to change all of that. "They don't care about skating anymore, it's all about cash," the owner, Haroon says unapprovingly of the industry, "it's time for a change." And Harron plans to practice what he preaches. As a brick and mortar establishment, he plans to offer free events -- video screenings, contests, and even cook outs, to local skateboarders in the area. As an online store, 505 promises the lowest prices possible on decks, wheels, softgoods, and other skateboarding related merchandise; putting fun and low prices ahead of the profit margins that Haroon hypothesizes have led skateboarding's journey down the wrong path. Spawned to foil the blood sucking corporations that control skating today, at face value it is atleast another source for cheap skateboards. With paperwork to fill out, and accounts to set up, 505 Board Shop is set to open in the Fall of 2007, with a line of decks to follow. If you'd like to write them a friendly letter, they are located at |
