Ever since I was a little kid I have always been obsessed with skateboarding. Forever my mom was against it, saying that I’m going to hurt myself and break a bone. I was so bummed watching all of my friends skate around while I had to follow them on my bike. It took 5 years later at the age of 12 that my mom would have a change of heart. Things were being shaken up in my household due to my dad dying when I was the age of 9. My mom just wanted to see me happy. So on my 12th birthday I finally got my first skateboard. I instantly fell in love with skateboarding. It was so hard to learn but it taught me a lot of discipline. I would spend every waking hour skating or thinking about skating. No one ever believed in my love for this wood plank. I constantly heard “you’ll quit once your able to drive” or “once you get a girl, it’s curtains”. The only person who knew about my infatuation was myself. I didn’t care too much about girls because all I wanted to do was skate and I just wanted my license to be able to drive to skate spots with my homies. Growing up in the early 90’s gang banging lifestyle was a predominant figure in my culture. A lot of my friends gangbanged and even I got tricked into getting jumped into one. The key word from the last sentence was tricked into it. My friends jumped me for no reason and then they said I was apart of the gang. I was so pissed because I got fucked up for something I wasn’t into. I just wanted to skate. As we all grew up I slowly grew apart from them because they all quit skating. Some of them are dead, in jail, drug addicts or just trying to make something for themselves. The one thing that got me through was skateboarding. Now after 13 years of skating, my mom fully understands my love for skateboarding. I thank god everyday for introducing me to skateboarding.

I hope the wait is worth it for everyone for issue 2. I want to apologize to all the readers for not having up the Alyasha interview. Due to time constraints and scheduling issues we weren’t able to get the interview. However I promise to get it for all you guys.
